An unprecedented "sweet and smoky" Ardbeg, where the luscious world of candied fruits and cacao yielded by sweet Sicilian Marsala wine casks collides with the intense peat smoke of Islay.

■ Tasting Notes

• Nosing: Unmistakably Ardbeg smoke at its core. Distinct from the typical sweetness of sherry wood, the Marsala casks impart a complex interplay of candied fruits, rich raisins, subtle herbs, apricot jam, orange peel, and dark cacao. A dessert-like softness drifts through the familiar Islay character.

• Palate: The entry is oily, smoky, and punctuated by black pepper, before developing into dessert-like notes of dark chocolate, ripe banana, and spiced plum. Following this, earthy brine, tar, and an edge of tannins arrive to balance the sweetness. Notes of apricot, dark chocolate, and smoked salt intertwine, supported by a baseline of roasted nuts.

• Finish: Long-lasting bonfire smoke carries faint touches of tobacco, red berries, and charred orange peel. The peat slowly transitions into a cacao bitterness, culminating in a dry finish reminiscent of dark chocolate infused with cinnamon and chili pepper.
