■ ザ・マッカランという蒸溜所
マッカランは、スペイサイドのクレイゲラヒに位置するシングルモルト・スコッチウイスキー蒸溜所。1824年に創業し、スコットランドで初めて正式に蒸溜免許を取得した蒸溜所のひとつです。「木と酒精の極致」への揺るぎない探求で世界に知られ、卓越したシェリーシーズンドのオーク樽のみを用いて、滑らかで複雑なシングルモルトを生み出す——その造り込みが、長年にわたり高い評価と希少性を支えてきました。
■ ホグマニーへのオマージュ
本作は「A Night on Earth」シリーズの第1弾。スコットランドの新年祝祭ホグマニーへのオマージュであり、樽熟成に由来するショートブレッドのような風味が、この祝祭の情景を映します。年明け最初に家へ迎え入れる客が、ウイスキー・ショートブレッド・石炭といった縁起物を携える「ファーストフッティング」の伝統が、ボトルの背景に息づいています。
■ 熟成とテイスティング
アメリカン＆ヨーロピアンオークのシェリーシーズンド樽に、アメリカン・バーボン樽を組み合わせて熟成。アルコール度数43%。香りはバニラ、豊かなバター、焼きリンゴ、プラム、アーモンド。味わいはショートブレッドを思わせるベルベットのような甘みと豊かな口当たりに、軽くトーストしたマシュマロ、ドライオレンジ、イチジク、シナモンが重なります。
■ デザイン
パッケージは、ウェス・アンダーソン監督作品にも参加した仏日系イラストレーター エリカ・ドーンとのコラボレーション。新年の火の儀式に着想を得たアートワークが、贈り物としての特別感を高めます。

■ The The Macallan Distillery
The Macallan is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in Craigellachie, Speyside. Founded in 1824, it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to legally obtain a distilling license. Renowned globally for its unwavering commitment to "wood and spirit," the distillery crafts smooth, complex single malts utilizing exceptional sherry-seasoned oak casks—a dedication to production that has long underpinned its high reputation and rarity.
■ An Homage to Hogmanay
This bottling marks the inaugural release in the "A Night on Earth" series. It stands as an homage to Hogmanay—Scotland’s historic New Year celebration—with its shortbread-like flavor profile derived from wood maturation directly mirroring the spirit of the festival. The concept draws inspiration from the tradition of "First Footing," where the first guest to cross the threshold in the New Year brings auspicious gifts such as whisky, shortbread, and coal.
■ Maturation & Tasting Profile
The liquid is matured in a combination of American and European oak sherry-seasoned casks, married alongside American ex-bourbon barrels. Bottled at 43% ABV.

Nosing: Vanilla, rich butter, baked apple, plum, and almond.

Palate: A velvety, shortbread-like sweetness and rich mouthfeel, layered with lightly toasted marshmallow, dried orange, fig, and cinnamon.
■ Design
The packaging is designed in collaboration with Erica Dorn, a French-Japanese illustrator who has contributed to the films of director Wes Anderson. Inspired by traditional New Year fire ceremonies, the multi-layered artwork elevates this release as a highly distinctive gift.
