アードナッホー蒸留所について
アイラ島で9番目の蒸留所となるアードナッホーは、2017年に設立され、本格的な稼働は2019年に始まりました。 アードナッホーという名前はゲール語で「くぼちを望む丘」を意味し、蒸留所がある美しい環境を見事に表現しています。 蒸留所の目の前に広がるアイラ海峡の向こうにジュラ島の山々を望むことができ、蒸留所のロゴの由来にもなっています。 蒸留所すぐ傍に流れるアイラ島で最も深いと言われるアードナッホー湖を水源とし、ウイスキー造りのあらゆる行程でその良質な軟水が使われています。

オーナーのハンターレイン社は、オールド・モルト・カスク（OMC）やオールド＆レアなどのボトラーとして知られており、近年ではスカラバスやジャーニーシリーズといったモルトウイスキーで人気を博しています。 また、代表であるスチュワート・レイン氏は、若かりし頃にブルイックラディ蒸留所で働いており、その頃からアイラ島への愛と情熱を持ち続けています。 2013年、スチュワート氏は息子のアンドリュー氏とスコット氏と共にハンターレイン社を設立し、「自分たちの手でウイスキーを作る」という長年の夢に向かって動き出しました。 彼らが目指したのは伝統的なピーテッドスタイルの正統派アイラシングルモルトです。

アードナッホー インフィニットロッホ
「インフィニットロッホ（深淵なる湖）」とは、アードナッホー蒸留所のすぐそばに広がるアードナッホー湖を指します。この湖の極めて軟らかく澄んだ水は、アードナッホー・シングルモルトに欠かせない要素のひとつです。
バーボン樽とシェリー樽で熟成されており、比率は未公開であるものの、ファーストリリースとは比率を変えているようです。
また今回は熟成年数の表記がありませんが、こちらもファーストと同じ5年程度熟成されているようです。

＜テイスティングノート＞
海水のしぶき、アイラピート、ダークチョコレートの香り。口に含むとメントール、フレッシュフルーツ、焚き火の香りが感じられ、スモーキーでピリッとしたフィニッシュへと続く。

About Ardnahoe Distillery
Ardnahoe is the 9th distillery on Islay. It was founded in 2017 and started full operation in 2019.
The name “Ardnahoe” means “the hill overlooking the hollow” in Gaelic, describing its beautiful location.
From the distillery, you can see the Isle of Jura across the Sound of Islay, which inspired the logo.
It uses water from nearby Loch Ardnahoe — said to be the deepest lake on Islay — known for its soft and pure quality.

The owner, Hunter Laing, is a famous independent bottler known for brands like Old Malt Cask and Old & Rare.
Their newer brands like Scarabus and the Journey Series are also very popular.
The company’s director, Stewart Laing, used to work at Bruichladdich and has loved Islay since then.
In 2013, he started Hunter Laing with his sons Andrew and Scott, aiming to make their own whisky.
They focus on traditional, peated Islay single malts.

Ardnahoe Infinite Loch
“Infinite Loch” refers to Loch Ardnahoe next to the distillery.
This soft and clear water is an important part of Ardnahoe whisky.
It is aged in bourbon and sherry casks (ratio not disclosed).
There is no age stated, but it is believed to be around 5 years, like the first release.

Nose: Sea spray, Islay peat, dark chocolate

Palate: Menthol, fresh fruits, bonfire smoke
